Research area
My research focuses on the empirical study of speech acts and the topic of linguistic politeness. My monograph on pragmatics (Tetté vált szavak, 2004, Tinta Könyvkiadó) deals with the main theoretical issues in pragmatics and gives insight into the findings of my studies based on discourse completion tests, also integrating pragmatic and intercultural aspects. (The following speech acts are covered in the aforementioned book: request, refusal, apology, compliment response.) Furthermore, the work also discusses the relationship between pragmatics and grammar. Finally, a recent study of mine examines the imperative mood from a pragmatic point of view (see Publications below).
